Search changed. People don't just type keywords into Google anymore — they ask AI engines full questions and get full answers back. If your business isn't the source of that answer, you don't exist in that conversation. This is the story of how we're making sure one Oklahoma City garage door company is the answer.

The Client

Open Sesame Garages, LLC is a licensed, locally owned garage door company in Oklahoma City, run by a young entrepreneur — Abdul, owner and lead technician — serving OKC and the surrounding metro: Edmond, Norman, Moore, Midwest City, Yukon, and Mustang. Installations, repairs, spring replacements, smart openers, 24/7 emergency service.

When Spotlight Links came on, Open Sesame had a phone number, real skills, and 5-star customers — and essentially no web presence. We built it from the ground up: the site, the infrastructure, the analytics, the content system, and the search strategy. Every layer.

Three Acronyms, One Strategy

SEO — Search Engine Optimization — gets you ranked in traditional search results. AEO — Answer Engine Optimization — gets your content quoted by AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews. GEO — Generative Engine Optimization — structures your entity and content so generative systems recognize you as a trustworthy, citable source. They're not three projects. They're one architecture, and we build it into the site itself.

What's Live and Working

1. The site ranks for its name — and its category

Search "Open Sesame garage door Oklahoma City" and the site is at the top, alongside the business's Facebook presence. Branded search is table stakes, but it's table stakes a lot of local businesses never clear.

2. AI answer engines quote the site verbatim

This is the part we're proudest of. Run a garage-door query about OKC through an AI-powered search and the generated answer lifts Open Sesame's own words: the $150–$350 spring replacement price range, the 24/7 emergency coverage across Edmond, Norman, Moore, and Midwest City, the fully-stocked trucks. Word for word, from the FAQ content we wrote and structured. That's AEO doing exactly what it's designed to do — the site isn't just ranking in the answer, it's writing the answer.

3. Content engineered as answers, not copy

Every FAQ on the site is phrased the way a homeowner actually asks it — "How much does a garage door spring replacement cost in Oklahoma City?" — and answered directly, with real numbers, in the first sentence. AI engines don't cite vague marketing copy. They cite specific, confident, well-structured answers. So that's what we build: dedicated pages for each question, from broken-spring warning signs to torsion-vs-extension comparisons, plus how-to guides and a style guide for door shoppers.

4. Local entity architecture

Individual service-area pages for each city in the metro. Consistent name, phone, and contact details everywhere. The LLC's state registration surfaced on-site. Real Google reviews, with real names, embedded on the page. These are the trust signals both Google's local algorithm and generative engines use to decide a business is real and citable.

5. Full technical foundation

Canonical domain configuration, Google and Bing site verification, Google Tag Manager, Open Graph metadata, statically generated pages on modern infrastructure that load fast. None of this is glamorous. All of it is prerequisite.

Mid-Phase: What's Next

The project is mid-phase, and we're honest about what that means. The content engine keeps expanding — more question pages, more how-to guides, deeper service-area coverage. Domain authority is consolidating onto the canonical domain. Review velocity and the Google Business Profile keep compounding. Rankings for the hardest non-branded queries — "garage door repair OKC" against national franchises with decade-old domains — are a climb, and we're climbing it with structure instead of shortcuts.

The Takeaway

A one-technician garage door company in Oklahoma City is being quoted by AI search engines because its website was architected for how people search now, not how they searched in 2015. That didn't require a national brand budget. It required building the site correctly from day one — content, structure, entity signals, and infrastructure working as one system.

That's what Spotlight Links does.
